What Do You Think?

Most of us develop our Christianity

along the line of our temperament,

not along the line of God."

  1. Well, that stopped me dead in my tracks! I'll have to ponder this one!

  2. This really got me when I read it in my Bible reading time. It is SO true! It is a statement that I will always come back to and check myself by. I am so far from this, but at leat I'm aware of it.

  4. I think it just means that we often excuse ourselves because of our personalities...."that's just the way I am", rather than totally relying on God. We can even try to strenghten what is already strong within us, and overlook our weaknesses.

Having our true selves exposed by the Word of God is very devastating. It means loosing ourselves, dying, being broken, and I know I've run from it many times.

Does that make more sense? Do you agree or disagree?

  5. Yes, that makes more sense. I agree. Recently, the Lord peeled back the layers of my personality, insecurities, and revealed Himself to me in a way I had not allowed myself to see or experience. When He exposed my deep hidden self-righteous sin (I wasn't even aware was there) and other sins next to His sovereignty and holiness. I felt naked & broken. Words do not express the true brokeness that has taken place. Did I make any sense? I have a little one chatting away in my ear. Which means, my time on here is up!

    Great post!

  7. I agree, I've fallen into this over the past couple months... let my time with God slip because "Oh, I'm too busy," or "I work for the church... so I should be fine." That is dangerous!
