We are finally remodeling our bedroom.
Yeah, I know. It’s our sanctuary. The room that should have the most care, but well, we had a “few” other things that needed to come first.
And best of all…this room will now have a large Jacuzzi tub in it….yep, resort-stylin’, right in our very own bedroom.
Maybe like this
Soon it will be time to choose colors for the walls, window treatments, maybe even some new furniture.
And, I’m at a loss, and need your help. Dirk and I have pretty simplistic, eclectic taste. We have stained concrete floors in the rest of the house, and we’re hoping to do the same in this bedroom.
So, tell me. Where do you go for decorative inspiration? How do you choose your paint colors? Have any good tips, decorating links, or creative thoughts to share?
Can you tell I’m thinking about a shade of green?
Help!
Robin
Green. I think you should go with green.
ReplyDeleteThis green is too green, but the rest of it is very romantic and simple...

Sounds like fun!
ReplyDeleteJerry so wants a hot tub but he wants it out on the balcony of the house we haven't yet built by our lake that he did already build. He watches blog cabin on tv and the DIY channel for all kinds of ideas...(do it yourself = DIY)
I do remember your blue carpet from eons ago. I know you will make your room beautiful...can't wait to see what you end up with. I am wanting to do a room in chocolate brown...just sounds so yummy. And cozy. One time I painted our kitchen a sort of burnt orange, on an overnite whim...sooooo...I will keep my opinions to myself. We will all be better off. smile.
Love ya,
B
Excited for you!!! One of my best friends is an interior designer. It's not my gift, so I do nothing without her. I've always been very traditional. And, I still love my oil paintings, I'm about ready to go completely modern.
ReplyDeletei constantly record 30 min hgtv shows for decorating inspiration! (my faves are design on a dime; deserving design; color splash; design remix...) their website has lots of great stuff, too! http://www.hgtv.com/ also, domino magazine is amazing! http://www.dominomag.com/ i love browsing the rink gallery on rockwell and nw 36th for very cool vintage-ish or unique decor finds! :) have fun! and keep us updated on your progress! oh, one more thing! do you know who the pioneer woman is? i follow her blog, and she just redid a house on their property. she chronicled the lodge makeover on her home and garden page: http://thepioneerwoman.com/homeandgarden/. you might just find it fun to see, even if it's not a master bedroom makeover. :)
ReplyDeleteHDTV... it's the place to be!
ReplyDeleteNow, I know you don't have cable, but you can get online and check out some of thier ideas... I love decorating!!
What I find funny is that I recall seeing very similar shades of green in Anna's kitchen.
ReplyDeleteI laughed out lound when I saw this post. Yesterday, I started writing an email to you and Erin about which color to paint my dining room! I got distracted and put in my drafts folder. How funny!
ReplyDeleteI'd go with green!
I cannot think of a couple who deserve's a jacuzzi more than you and Dirk!
My only thought for the bedroom. Splurge on bedding. Jonathan and I did that two years ago and it was so much fun....and has added a lot of fun! ;)
I stink at this. I go to my sister-in-law.
ReplyDeleteI agree that nice bedding makes you feel good to walk in the room - "show pillows" and all, makes me feel like a woman. :)
Shades of green are tough... always look brighter on the walls! We tried that in the nursery, and decided going with a warm tan instead. Color does make a HUGE difference though! I like looking at magazines and searching HGTV.com to find suggestions. They have a "rate my space" section and tons of tips and ideas. Good luck! There's also a great link on my blog. "The Nester's Site" She has some great ideas, too! keep us updated!
ReplyDeleteI learned with my BLUE bedroom that it's always wise to pick the paint that's a step lighter than the chip you like. That way when you paint and entire wall, the color isn't too intense!
ReplyDeleteI get ideas from Pottery Barn and Crate and Barrel magazines. Then I ask my parents to build the items (shelves, bookcases, etc) for LESS money! :) You and your family are so handy, I'm sure you could pull anything off.
Otherwise, I am of little help. I know what I like when I see it, but I have no real skills in this area. My pal Emily is GREAT at it if you want some good advice! :)
I would love to offer my help but the hubby did most of the decorating in our home :)
ReplyDeleteRestoration Hardware has some beautiful paint colors...one is called silver sage and it is the best color! Kind of high...but you could always buy one can and then have it mixed somewhere else that was less expensive! There is also a good color at sherwin williams called sensible hue that is really pretty!
