More on the Mailbox

Yesterday’s comments on The Mailbox were very kind. And you all are really very funny!

You see, there is NO difference between you and me, except:

I’VE BEEN THERE, DONE THAT, AND LIVED TO TELL ABOUT IT!

And, my eyes didn’t stay crossed.
And, I don’t usually stutter when I’m in a conversation.
I get to take a shower by myself (unless Dirk’s in the room…..did I just say that?)
No one cries at the door while I’m in the bathroom
I can go to the grocery store, or any store, alone and sometimes I actually get home with everything on my list.
I can have quiet time (and it’s actually quiet—usually)
We can make it through most meals without a spilled drink.
I found out the clock in our living room makes noise when it ticks!

One day, you too will have similar struggles, a few disappointments, and mostly victories to share with moms who are going through the things you are experiencing right now.

And remember, I’m not finished yet. I still have two teen boys!

For now, just hang on, stay connected to Jesus, enjoy the ride, embrace your situation, and don’t worry too much about that annoying tic you’ve developed. It will go away in about 20 years!

  1. Now those are funny. Going to the grocery when I want. Look forward to that day.

  3. I think you forgot the scripture refrence for those verses...OH, you mean that is NOT scripture describing HEAVEN???!!!!

Your post yesterday just left me jealous that I dont have a long drive way to walk down!!! I have no doubt they would follow me though...including the dog who would run away and then someone would get muddy and then Id have to take them all in and bathe them! LOL!

Seriously, THANK YOU ROBIN!!! You have NO idea how your words of encouragement feel on this side of the computer screen!

  6. You guys are great! This is just a season...a long one. Enjoy it! Natalie, you take me back about 13 years (and more). I was thinking the other day, I was pregnant 63 months (that's over 5 years!) and we won't even count the years of nursing....that might make me feel old! LOL And I wouldn't trade any of them! Really!

  8. You're awesome. I'm nowhere close to being a mom yet, but your example inspires me anyway! :) Love you!

  10. That was SO funny because I know those things. Funny, some days I want to be ALONE and when I am finally alone, I want to be with them!

Having experienced loss, I know the brevity of life and just want to embrace every day - with JOY!

    Keep the encouragement coming.

  11. Anna--you've slept in there recently! I'll bet it seemed LOUD!
    Abbi-Thanks!
Scott--it makes perfect sense, and will happen before you know it!
    Sheri - thanks, as always.

  12. I'm with Christie. I am so jealous about the long driveway. My mailbox is on my house right next to my front door. I don't even have to put my whole body outside. Just my arm. I did get to go to the store and the gym all by myself the other night. I didn't know what to do.

  13. It is such a short season...and yet it seems so long and drawn out. May we get to the place where we are happy for our "light and momentary" troubles in parenting :) It is the encouragement that will keep us going and focused on the goal...thank you Robin!!!!!!! I am convinced our kids are designed to keep us close to Him...dependent on His strength because we CAN NOT do it with our own.

  14. Shanna-you are SO right about we CAN NOT do it with our own strength. God had to give me 7 just to prove it to me! ; )

  15. I second Gina and Christie about the mailbox thing. Mine is also right by my door. And, going to the bathroom by myself? HA! HA! HA! One little, tiny bathroom with me, 2 kids and a dog. Wouldn't trade it for anything.
