You know this concept. You experience its effects daily with your children. But, today, ask yourself: What is God asking me to do? You may already know.
God is asking you to ______________, so you serve in the children’s area at church this week to make yourself (and hopefully God) feel better.

He’s asking you to ___________, so you get up and clean the kitchen. After all, it does need it.
He’s asking you to __________________ so you clean out a closet or drawer.
He’s asking you to __________________, and you call a friend instead.
Why is it we think substituting something of even greater worth (in our minds) is better than the one thing God is asking of us?
To obey is better than sacrifice. I Samuel 15:22
Just do it.

God is asking me to Put Him First. But I make excuses about being busy in life.

So true! As mommies sometimes we forget how incredibly important just taking care of our family is. We think we should be out changing the world, when our calling is right there in the home. Thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteIt's so funny that you would posted this today. I just finished the last chapter in "A Woman After God's Own Heart" this morning and this is exactly what she talks about and uses the same scripture.
ReplyDeleteShe talks about how God doesn't want our obedience to be ritual he just wants our hearts. Good stuff! Maybe you should write a book!
God is telling me to be still and know that He is God. Very hard for a girl with ants in her pants all the time. In the meantime, I'm trying to enjoy the moments in the here and now. Very good stuff!
ReplyDeleteI"m guilty of that all the time... mmm... God is asking me to write a book, so I start a blog instead... which in a way is like starting a book... ok, who am I kidding... that's an excuse!
ReplyDeleteI heard a comment along these lines. It says, "Sometimes obedience IS the sacrifice."
ReplyDeletewell said ladies
ReplyDeleteThis sign reminds me of marcy's song...never ending...which way do I choose.
ReplyDeleteYou are a masterpiece!
mmmm, deep thought. Good one. I'll pay better attention to what He is really trying to tell me.
