Disagree. I think God can do anything!:) I do think it won't happen overnight, but if we are truly asking God to help us, then He will. Combine that with our part of following through and there you have it. (Sounds too easy, huh?)Of course we are all unique so....maybe I'm undecided a bit.
The key word is "make". So, I agree with this. If you would have said "can" or "is able" or "could", I would have disagreed. God CAN do anything He pleases. However, He is a gentleman and does not force himself on us.
When I ask him to make me like Jesus He certainly will hold me tight as I say goodbye to my flesh.
I just get confused why in the same sentence God and Jesus is used almost like they are different people. Why would we just say God will not make me think like God? I have never quite understood when and why you would use one name over the other.
We have to ask Jesus into our hearts and lives before God can start to do any work through us. I agree with Cindy that he won't MAKE us unless we ask for it.
He will if I'm willing and meet Him halfway, by trying to and getting to know Him better, and asking Him to. I interpreted Make as 'be able to', not 'force to'.
There's no way I could even come close to doing that on my own! But you have to want it, and pray that the Lord will help you. He won't force Himself on you.
I think it's impossible to do it by yourself. You have to have God in you and WANT to think like Him. It's something you have to work at by praying and conecting with God, it doesn't come overnight. lol

ReplyDeleteI hope I don't have to do it all by myself! I am sure I would fail miserably.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it a joint venture, we take thoughts captive, ask for renewing of the mind and the Lord's wisdom and He will provide?

ditto Cindy. Still, there's no way I can think like Jesus unless his holy spirit is changing me

ReplyDeleteBut I agree with Cindy, free will and all
I agree, God won't "make" us do anything. He gives us choices. He can help us though!

ReplyDeleteWhat a gift it is.

ReplyDeletei dont get the statistic thing! like how to put it on my profile! HELP! haha
ReplyDeleteDitto Cindy. The word "make" implies that he revokes our free will. He won't MAKE us, but if we WANT it, He'll help us get there.
